I’m an author/illustrator based in Portland, Oregon who specializes in writing and illustrating picture books. My work is often dark,
a little creepy, but always with an undercurrent of humor, heart, and playfulness. I primarily work in digital illustration, but also incorporate traditional materials when necessary. I also have professional experience in immersive art installation, and love bringing my creations to life in multi-sensory, physical spaces.
When I was young, I was both afraid of and fascinated by creatures of all kinds: aliens, monsters, ghosts, spirits, mythological creatures, and weird-looking animals and insects.
I discovered a special kind of empowerment through art-making, where I could depict these mysterious beings in all kinds of playful, humorous and thought-provoking situations. This is still my go-to subject matter as an illustrator, though lately my interests have turned to studying and depicting the strangest creatures of all: human beings.
I am also an Oregon and New Mexico-based art therapist and counselor who finds creative ways to support the mental health and well-being of humans of all types. My art often reflects mental health themes, and I aim to increase awareness of and
add levity to mental health issues through my work.
