Hermit Crab
Instead of a shell, this large hermit crab ended up inhabiting an old house. The people still reside there, and have learned to coexist with the hermit crab and other marine life, or have they? This piece—along with a sticker I designed for the gift shop—was created for an underwater-themed immersive art exhibit called Fathom, by the Portland-based art collective, Roboto Octopodo. Several miniature dioramas can be viewed inside the house. This piece was made of cardboard cutouts, acryclic paint, found objects, and clay.
Millipede
This diorama was part of a diorama tower featuring a collective of contributing artists. It was showcased at Soft World, a family-friendly immersive art pop-up exhibition, the 2025 Portland Winter Lights Festival, and the 2026 SOAK Festival. Each diorama was meant to capture a moment in a character’s day-to-day life. This diorama centers on a millipede who struggles with owning too many shoes. He hoards his shoe collection inside of an old drain pipe, and you can only make eye contact with him by viewing his reflection in the water below. This piece was made with clay, acryclic paint, and found objects.
Cockroach
I challenged myself to create something beautiful using an art material that I have historically felt some resistance to: watercolor. For better or worse, this giant cockcoach was the result. It’s meant to be hung on the wall, worn as a backpack, or used to make people feel uncomfortable. This piece was made with water color paper cutouts, watercolor paint. and found objects.
